2. What information we collect
We collect information you provide directly when you:
- Create an account (email address, password)
- Complete your founder or investor profile (name, business details, country, financial information)
- Submit a project or funding round for review
- Subscribe to platform updates (email, interest area)
- Contact us via the contact form
- Make or receive an investment commitment through the platform
We also collect limited technical information automatically, including IP address and browser type, to keep the platform secure and functional.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the AfricanCrowd platform and provide our services
- Review and process project submissions and funding rounds
- Communicate with you about your account, campaigns, and investments
- Send product updates and platform announcements (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Improve the platform and understand how it is being used
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-party services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Resend - transactional email delivery (account verification, notifications)
- Brevo (Sendinblue) - email marketing and CRM for subscribers
- Flutterwave - payment processing for investment commitments
- Railway - cloud hosting and infrastructure
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data handling practices. We share only the minimum information necessary for them to perform their services.
5. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you close your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we are required by law to retain it (for example, transaction records for regulatory compliance).

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment processing is handled entirely by Flutterwave - AfricanCrowd never stores your card or banking details.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of AfricanCrowd after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
